Nivin Pauly’s debut in Kollywood was with the hit bilingual ‘Neram’ which was released in Malayalam as well as Tamil, and his first direct Tamil movie will be Richie which is slated for release on 08 December. Richie is a remake of the 2014 Kannada crime drama movie ‘Ulidavaru Kandanthe’. ‘Ulidavaru Kandanthe’ is about a female journalist who is on a mission to uncover the truth behind an incident, and the story is told in five different perspectives.
The movie will feature the actor in the title character, Richie – a pakka local rowdy and the actor has also dubbed for himself for the role. Ritchie is helmed by debutante Gautham Ramachandran and has a solid star cast comprising Natarajan Subramaniam, Shraddha Srinath, Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli, Prakash Raj among others. Shraddha Srinath of U Turn fame plays the female lead in Richie, the film also has Prakash Raj playing Nivin’s dad while Lakshmi Priya will be seen as a fisherwoman.
Richie is set in a coastal area and Nivin Pauly will be seen as a tough, fearless local rowdy. From the promos, it looks like a very stylish character that will have enough mass elements to please the actor’s fans. Nivin Pauly himself is dubbing in Tamil, which is also the first time the actor is dubbing in the language.
Richie is a Tamil classic neo-noir action crime film directed by Gautham Ramachandran and written by Rakshit Shetty. Ajaneesh Loknath has scored the music and Pandi Kumar has done the cinematography for this film.
Thoothukudi, Kuttalam, and Kolkatta were the main locations of the movie.
Roshan Andrew’s ‘Kayamkulam Kochunni’, Shyama prasad’s Hey Jude and Geethu Mohandas’s Moothon are other upcoming movies of Nivin Pauly. The film ‘Kayamkulam Kochunni’ is reportedly based on the life of Kerala’s legendary thief, Kayamkulam Kochunni. The shooting will take place in Kayamkulam and Sri Lanka. In Hey Jude Nivin Pauly will be pairing up with south Indian actress Trisha for the first time, and also Hey Jude is the debut Malayalam movie of Trisha.
